Tell Your Legislators to Reject Austerity in Rhode Island!

Dear friends,
You've signed our petition. Now make your voice heard.
Reclaim RI wants everyone who joined us in calling for a just budget in response to the COVID-19 crisis to write their legislators and tell them clearly that you reject austerity in Rhode Island.
Hundreds of Rhode Islanders have come together to say that they will not accept a budget balanced on the backs of poor and working class people, that directs funds away from healthcare, schools, and education and toward police, jails, and incarceration, and refuses to demand that the rich pay their fair share in taxes.
But now your legislators need to hear from you.
We want them to hear your stories. If you rely on Medicare and Medicaid for healthcare, let them know. If you teach at or have a child who attends an underfunded Rhode Island public school, tell them how it feels. If you live in a community plagued by invasive policing, demand that they make it stop. Your representatives need to understand how the budget will impact their constituents.
Please take a few minutes and write a very brief letter to your representative informing them that you won't accept an austerity budget. If enough of us speak out, they will have to listen.
Solidarity,
J. Mamana, Reclaim RI Digital Director
