The University of Oregon is being gutted by administrators who are imposing drastic changes from above suddenly and undemocratically. In an unprecedented move, multiple departments and programs will be eliminated or drastically reduced, and many faculty, including tenured and tenure-track faculty, will be fired based on a projected budget deficit that was discovered late spring term. This would set a dangerous precedent and threaten the reputation of our state’s flagship university.
