Greyhound Racing Ban: email Tas MLCs

greyhound training property, Tas
Animal Liberation Tasmania

Dear greyhound advocate,

Last week The Tasmanian Liberals tabled draft legislation which, if successful, will see greyhound racing in Tasmania made illegal by mid-2029.

This legislation will also ban the breeding of greyhounds for the purposes of racing by January 2026 to prevent a rehoming crisis, are will begin the transitional phase necessary to see an end to the industry.

The success of the draft legislation now rests with the members of the Legislative Council.

We are calling upon you to send a letter of support for the legislation to all members of the Legislative Council. Using the template provided, you can send a strong message that you and a majority of Tasmanians do NOT support the continued exploitation of greyhounds at the taxpayer's expense, and support it's eventually being made illegal.

You may also wish to add your own stories, of dear greyhounds you have known and loved, of the trials and tribulations you have endured together, of their individual struggles. This may include mental health struggles, physical harms. But also, include stories of the beautiful individuals they became in your care.

These stories matter.

Together, we can convince the members of the Legislative Council that this legislation is the right pathway forward.

Thank you.
