The CPBC petitioned for the resignation of Premier David Eby following MLA Selina Robinson’s resignation from the BC NDP in March 2024, after she accused her colleagues of anti-semitism. While Rustad has been staunchly supporting her, he posted no comparative statements about Islamophobia when she resigned from her Ministerial position the month prior, in February 2024, for her hateful remarks about Palestinian history.

Rustad repeatedly raised concerns about rising anti-semitism since October 7th, 2023, yet only condemned Islamophobia a few days ago due to public calls for the Surrey South Candidate, Brent Chapman, to resign for his hateful remarks about Palestinians. This condemnation is baseless as the Party refused to remove Mr. Chapman.

Rustad spoke at vigils remembering Israeli lives lost but neglected to attend any vigils for Palestinian lives lost. Rustad paid visits to the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre and the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver following October 7th, 2023, yet failed to show this support to the Palestinian, Lebanese or broader Arab and Muslim community.

The CPBC has made online tributes to Israelis that have lost their lives since October 7th, 2023 but has neglected to do the same for any one of the killed 42,000+ innocent Palestinian civilians or 2,200+ innocent Lebanese civilians.

Urge Rustad and the CPBC to immediately apologize for, retract and correct ALL comments and actions that have marginalized and dehumanized Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims since October 7th, 2023, to ensure BC remains a safe place for everyone.
