Take Action: Abolish Super PACs Now!
On the last day of its term, the Supreme Court issued a new ruling that will make it easier to funnel unlimited money to campaigns.
In the years since SCOTUS’s Citizens United decision, corporate money in elections has grown by 16,000% -- and has decisively shifted elections. The populist uprising we’ve seen in New York, and which we could see in Colorado tonight, shows the American people are sick and tired of it.
In Justice Kagen’s dissent, she makes a good point:
"The majority laments political parties’ relative power has diminished in comparison to SuperPACs. But surely, that one is rich. If one is overruling -- or just reversing -- decisions on that ground, I can think of a couple of more obvious ones -- that is, the ones that created the modern Super PAC system, and thus the complained-of imbalance.”
If you agree that we need less dark money in our elections, not more, tell your members of Congress to pass Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Summer Lee’s bill to abolish Super PACs!
