On January 28, 2025, SDPD Officer Gold shot and killed 16-yo Konoa Wilson, who was fleeing gunfire, at Santa Fe Depot.

On December 9, San Diego City Council agreed to pay a $30 million settlement to Konoa's family - the largest settlement in US history.

As of December 18, Officer Gold is still on staff with SDPD with zero charges still - it is believed he has also been promoted and received a raise.
