ACT NOW: Tell Gov. Wes Moore to Honor His Oath, Repeal Maryland’s Unconstitutional Anti-BDS Executive Order
Day One on the job, New York City's newly inaugurated Mayor Zohran Mamdani made history putting America First by revoking the city's unconstitutional anti-BDS Executive Order, signed by his predecessor, that restricted city agencies and pension officials from engaging in political boycotts and divestment including policies targeting advocacy related to Israel. His action reaffirmed a core American value: peaceful political boycotts are protected by the First Amendment.
Yet, despite years of grassroots advocacy, tens of thousands of emails and calls and even a bill introduced in the Maryland General Assembly that was blocked by his administration, Governor Wes Moore has repeatedly failed to honor his oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution and revoke our state's anti-BDS Executive Order.
Maryland Executive Order 01.01.2017.25 prioritizes the interests of a foreign government, Israel - currently under investigation by the International Court of Justice on charges of genocide - above Marylanders' constitutional rights, by conditioning state contracts and participation based on political viewpoints. Similar laws and executive orders across the country have repeatedly been struck down by federal courts as unconstitutional violations of free speech including in Kansas, Arizona, Texas, and Georgia.
Let's be clear: This Executive Order should never have been enacted.
TAKE ACTION. Call on Governor to take the example of leaders like Mayor Mamdani, honor his oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution, prioritize his constituents' rights, and repeal this Executive Order immediately.
