ACTION: Tell Stifel to stop profiting from prisons
.png)
CoreCivic, one of the largest private prison companies in the world, is currently attempting to raise private investment to facilitate the construction of two new mega prisons in Alabama. It is a multi-billion dollar contract that will keep CoreCivic afloat for decades, and if they are built, these prisons will lock Alabamians into an expansion of mass incarceration for generations to come.
Activists in Alabama and our allies across the country have successfully pressured two of the three banks financing this project to drop out (Barclays and KeyBank). Only one investment bank remains: Stifel. If we can pressure Stifel to drop out of this CoreCivic project, then we can put an end to this private prison project.
We need Stifel’s board of directors to hear from you with a very clear message: their institution should not provide financing for private prisons. You can use this portal to contact Stifel’s board of directors. We have a pre-drafted message that you can send with one click, or you are welcome to edit or write your own message in the text box.
Please share this campaign widely. We need Stifel to know that people see what they are doing. We need Stifel to know that the people of Alabama deserve better than this, and that the mass incarceration of our people for profit will not be tolerated silently.
