Advocates for Afghan Allies

An Afghan woman being escorted by a Talib

Many Afghan nationals served the United States military and government during our time in Afghanistan. Now with the US departure, there is no question that the thousands of Afghans who risked their lives to serve our troops are now in imminent danger. The Taliban is actively searching for every person who served the United States. They may be killed without trial, or for the women, maybe raped and forced into marriage. Recently, a UN spokesperson noted that “women are already being killed and shot for breaching rules.”

This is a direct consequence of their employment history with the US government.

If Congress acts, we can still save them. They have stood up for us and now it's time we stand up for our allies.

With the recent Taliban takeover, we are in touch with several Afghan women who qualify for the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV). However, as you are already aware, they face imminent danger and threats from the Taliban. Additionally, SIV processing times and application issues, such as no tracking numbers, etc. add an additional burden to our allies.

To revamp this system and reduce the wait time, we are lobbying the US Congress to provide recommendations to the State Department that can help achieve the same.

Join me in sending an email to Congress asking them to forward a letter to the State Department with recommendations to fix the SIV system
