Take Action: Shutdown AI’s hidden sweatshops
For years, Silicon Valley tech companies were hiring data workers from outside the U.S., largely from low-wage countries like Kenya and Venezuela. But now, in the midst of one of the worst job markets for college graduates, we’re seeing college graduates in the U.S. --sometimes people with PhDs from Ivy League schools -- being hired into a rapidly growing workforce.
People with certain expertise are being hired to train AI on that expertise. But it’s a job sector with little to no oversight where 86% of workers are struggling to meet basic financial needs.
Check out our new report above, then send a message to your Governor and your State Legislature urging them to introduce and pass legislation that protects workers from being exploited by Big Tech companies as they race to roll out newer and more powerful AI models.
