An Open Letter to President Donald Trump from Survivors of the Sabra Shatila Massacre

This open letter comes from doctors and nurses who survived the 1982 Sabra and Shatila massacre, warning that history is repeating itself in Gaza today. They witnessed how U.S.-brokered promises of safety collapsed then, leaving thousands slaughtered, and now see Gaza’s people once again facing starvation, bombardment, and mass displacement under a broken ceasefire.

With half a million lives, especially children, at imminent risk from famine and disease, they stress that only President Trump has the power to stop the killing, as he briefly did with the January 2025 ceasefire. The letter is both a humanitarian alarm and a moral appeal, reminding him that the world is watching, history will judge, and God is watching too. It is a plea not to let Gaza become another Sabra and Shatila, and to give its children a chance at life and a future.
