Since the outbreak of hostilities in Occupied Palestine, the Israeli genocide in Gaza has claimed at least 40,000 Palestinian lives (with some estimates placing the death toll at over 186,000), brought the Arab and Middle-Eastern world to the brink of total war, and instigated a fascist campaign of police crackdowns and public censorship against Muslim and Arab communities.

The United States in general, and the Biden-Harris administration in particular, has been directly complicit in this genocide by providing unconditional funding and military aid to Israel. Americans who value Palestinian lives, therefore, have a responsibility to demand that our government stop supporting genocide.

Senate candidate Angela Alsobrooks, if she can be swayed to support an embargo on weapons shipments to Israel, has the potential to be a powerful voice for peace in occupied Palestine. The strong pro-Palestine sentiment among young Democratic voters, along with her close race with Larry Hogan, makes her extremely vulnerable to public pressure.

Although she has supported the conditioning of aid, she has also asserted that citizens have a duty to maintain bipartisan support for Israel. She enthusiastically embraces a definition of antisemitism that conflates anti-Zionism with antisemitism and has gained the endorsement of Democratic Majority for Israel. She needs to stop wavering and take a stand.

This close to the election there is immense power in the threat of withholding votes.
