Ask Andrea Jenkyns to back renewable energy instead of fracking
“Fracking” releases highly potent greenhouse gases during both extraction and burning, causes earthquakes, contaminates the environment - including human drinking water - and despoils the landscape. On safety grounds it is banned in the UK and seven other countries.
There is no economic case for fracking, which has never proved to be viable in the UK, despite decades of effort. Neither would shale gas lower energy bills as it would belong to the American extraction company and be sold internationally to the highest bidder. It is also the most unpopular from of energy generation in the UK.
Greater Lincolnshire does not need fossil fuels for economic growth. This county is fast becoming a UK renewables superpower, creating thousands of jobs and attracting billions of pounds of inward investment through offshore and onshore green energy generation.
Recent research by the University of Exeter put Lincolnshire among the top areas in the country for potential new onshore wind and solar projects. UK wind and solar farms produce by far the cheapest electricity, providing energy security and price protection for consumers. This county’s future is most definitely green!
Please send a letter to tell the Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire to support clean, green energy for the
21st century and to ditch the dirty, dangerous, failed, fuels of the past.
LET’S DITCH FRACKING FOR GOOD !
