Ask the City to Choose Affordable Housing for Elders, and Youth Programming in Glenwood

Every day in Glenwood, we see elders with no place to go. They sit in our parks and at our bus stops, and sometimes even on the sidewalk. Many of them live with other families, in cars, in sheds, or even rent porches to sleep on. That’s not how we want our neighborhood to be.

There is a solution. The City owns the church property at Florida and Glenwood and is charged with using it for the public good. We think that good should mean housing seniors on a fixed income who can no longer afford market-rate rents.

Glenwood Together is partnering with Affordable Housing Management Inc to build and manage 45 subsidized apartments for seniors. Glenwood Together has deep roots in our neighborhood and a great track record of serving our community’s many needs, most especially our kids.

Will you contact City Council to ask them to help house seniors in Glenwood? Enter your name and contact information on the right to email City Council and ask them to choose Glenwood Together and AHMI’s proposal. Don’t let them give it away to developers.

You can send the email as is, or adjust it with your own stories from Glenwood and why this matters to you.

Learn more about why we think Glenwood Together and AHMI’s proposal is the right one for Glenwood.

Come learn more and talk to City Council members on Wednesday, September 30th from 6:30-8:00 pm at Hope Academy at 1403 W. Florida Street.
