Ask the Onondaga County Executive to Keep His Promise to Return Maple Bay
This September and October, please take a moment to write to the Onondaga County Executive, J. Ryan McMahon, II asking him to uphold the county’s promise to return Maple Bay to Onondaga Nation. The lake is a sacred place for the Haudenosaunee and has been a Superfund site for generations as a result of settler pollution. The eagles are returning to the lake, after much prayer and advocacy by the Onondaga, and it's time for the County Executive to keep his word and return the small portion of the lake, Maple Bay, back to the Onondaga.
