Ask your CA State Senator to support SB 1482 for EV equity!

Two rows of EVs charge in a parking lot

The EV Charging for All Coalition, Acterra, and California Interfaith Power and Light are proud to co-sponsor a key bill, SB 1482 (Allen), to reduce inequitable barriers to the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). We are thrilled that SB 1482 passed the CA state Senate on May 26 on a vote of 28-6, hooray! Next the bill will be heard in the CA Assembly. Once it passes in the Assembly, it will need to come back to the CA Senate for final approval.

The transition to EVs is well underway, helping to protect our fragile climate and bringing cleaner air and cost savings to many. But ALL Californians, including those living apartments and condos, deserve to benefit from the environmental, health and financial benefits of EVs—and that means they need access to charging at the place where it's the most affordable, easy-to-access, and safe: at home.

SB 1482 is a critical step in ensuring this access. This common-sense bill requires newly constructed multi-family housing in California to provide every resident who has access to a parking space with access to EV Ready (plug-and-play) charging—at the time when it's the least expensive to provide it.

Note: Your address is needed to send this message directly to your California state senator. If your senator is one of these: Allen, Becker, Hertzberg, Laird, Limón or Wieckowski, please thank them for co-authoring this bill!
