Ask Your Cathedral to Bank Ethically

IF YOU CLICK THROUGH TO ‘START WRITING’ AND GET A BLANK BOX INSTEAD OF A PRE-WRITTEN LETTER, YOU CAN FIND THE PRE-WRITTEN TEXT HERE.

We would like to invite you to write to the Dean of your local cathedral (the nearest cathedral to you) to urge them to ditch their fossil fuel funding bank and switch to an ethical alternative.

If your local cathedral is not included in the list, this is because they have already told CCA they are switching their current account. If they are planning to switch, but haven’t set a date yet, we have included them so we can show the support for ethical banking locally.

CCA is carrying out Ethical Banking Vigils at Church of England cathedrals during 2026 because, as the leading worship centres in our national church, they should be leading the way in quitting fossil fuel financing.

By writing to your cathedral Dean you join many others in helping to support the call for action on banking from the local community. It doesn’t matter if you are from another denomination, or are not a practising Christian, as the way our State Church utilises its money is something that affects us all. As Jesus says: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21)

Please fill in your details and click ‘Start Writing’ to see the populated letter. You are welcome to add your own feelings about why we need to take climate action. You can also copy and paste the text from here

The letter will go to the Cathedral closest to the postcode you enter. If the Cathedral closest to you has told us they are switching their bank account then then your letter will go to the next nearest Cathedral to the postcode you enter.
