Ask your representative to support House Bill 39, Voting in Prison

In Illinois, there are roughly 30,000 people incarcerated in state prisons, unable to vote but still impacted by the decisions of elected officials. Of those incarcerated, 55% are Black and 43% are between the ages of 18 and 35. We are disenfranchising our young, Black Illinoisans.

In coalition with over 80 organizations, Chicago Votes is advocating for House Bill 39 (formerly SB 828) which would end felony disenfranchisement in Illinois and allow people in prison the opportunity to vote! Tell your state representative to hop on board because democracy works best when it includes everyone.
