Ask Your Legislators to Support Bills to Ensure Language Access

Please contact your State Senator, and State Representative and ask them to co-sponsor legislation to ensure language access and inclusion

Everyone should have access to crucial public services such as education, housing, public benefits, and healthcare. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has laid bare our Commonwealth’s inability to provide information and services in languages other than English. Nearly 1 in 10 Massachusetts residents are considered limited English proficient, and when information and application materials for critical services are not made available in languages other than English, it is a major barrier for non-English speakers throughout the Commonwealth.

Bills S.2040 and H.3199, would require the state to establish and enforce language access standards for all public-facing agencies in order to improve the accessibility of services our communities rely upon.
