Ask your Members of Congress to Support The Greyhound Protection Act and End Dog Racing in West Virginia
West Virginia is the last state with operating dog tracks. In 2024 alone, 489 greyhounds were injured, including 162 who broke bones and 13 dogs that died. This has to stop.
Fortunately, the Greyhound Protection Act has been filed. This comprehensive measure will phase out dog racing, outlaw wagering on foreign greyhound race and prevent the export of American greyhounds for racing elsewhere.
Your help is needed at this key time. Please ask your House Representative and Senators to support the Greyhound Protection Act now.
Greyhound racing not only harms dogs. A newly-released economic analysis by Ball State University found that dog racing provides no economic value to West Virginia and is costing the state money. Clearly, diverting $17-$22 million dollars each year to prop up unprofitable dog racing is nonsensical.
