At Rosie’s Place, we frequently hear from women who are eligible to vote but are unable to do so on election day due to purged voter registrations, not being registered where they are on election day, or simply not having the time and means to get to the polls. These barriers discourage otherwise eligible and eager voters from participating in elections. Last year, the Legislature established mail-in voting, expanded early voting, and extended the registration deadline to encourage safe election participation during COVID-19. These temporary reforms allowed a record number of Massachusetts citizens to cast ballots in 2020, but without legislative action, the reforms will expire.
