Ban short-term rentals, enforce the law!

You may have heard by now that Hoboken's city council is considering new regulations for short-term rentals (like AirBnB and VRBO). These regulations would ban short-term rentals in rent-controlled units, but allow for permitting and registration for other units. Hoboken United Tenants is pushing for a full ban because short-term rentals are a nuisance in all buildings, not just rent-controlled ones, and because we believe that creating a system where some short-term rentals are allowed but others are not will open the door to widespread non-compliance, so a partial ban on paper becomes full legalization in practice.
