Ban the Box: Tell Ohio to Pass SB 143

"Have you ever been convicted of a crime?" A handful of words that can cost someone everything.

In Ohio, more than one million people are paying that price every time they apply for a job.

They've served their time, stayed on track, and are trying to build a better life — but one checkbox on a job application is still standing in their way, cutting them off before they ever get an interview.

SB 143 could change that.

This bill makes sure employers look at the 'whole person' — their character, experience, and skills — instead of just their record.

It means a parent puts food on the table, a neighbor becomes a contributor instead of a statistic, and businesses and communities grow stronger together.

Felony-impacted citizens should be judged on who they are today, not just their worst moment.

Send your letter to your legislator today and tell them it's time to give Ohioans a second chance.
