Berkeley district 6 says NO to Flock!
Residents of Berkeley Council District 6 (North of the University, East of Spruce Street) have an important opportunity to stop expansion of surveillance in Berkeley!
Councilmember Blackaby has asked for a Flock contract that restricts the use and preservation of surveillance data, but he is failing to comprehend that Flock Safety cannot be relied upon to respect the contract. And Councilmember Blackaby is ignoring the malicious power of our current federal government that can and has used legal and illegal methods to access Flock's extensive databases to track journalists, immigrants, and citizens exercising their first amendment rights, women seeking healthcare and others.
Please send a letter to Councilmember Blackaby ASAP but no later than May 6th as he and the rest of the council members will be taking a vote during a special city council meeting on May 7th.
