Bill H7445: Faith-Based Affordable Housing

Faith-based institutions across Rhode Island own land and property that is underutilized and could be suitable for housing development. Allowing faith-based institutions to build affordable housing on their land can create new opportunities for much needed affordable homes. This bill would make it easier for this to happen.

This Bill Will:

  • Allow faith-based institutions to build affordable housing with property they own

  • Creates a streamlined approval process for affordable housing development on faith-based institutional land

  • Aligns with the state and federal low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) rules and regulations
