Tell Attorney General Pam Bondi to drop the charges against Georgia Fort and Don Lemon now

Trump’s Department of Justice has taken the unprecedented and unlawful step of arresting two journalists, Georgia Fort and Don Lemon, for doing their jobs and reporting on an anti-ICE protest in Minneapolis.

The protest took place at Cities Church, where Immigration and Customs Enforcement official David Easterwood serves as a pastor.

The DOJ claims that Fort and Lemon approached a pastor during church services and tried to “oppress and intimidate” him by “peppering him with questions.”

Video of the protest makes clear that neither journalist was interfering, obstructing, or intimidating in ways that violate the law. Covering a protest and asking difficult questions isn’t a crime. It’s also not a violation of religious freedom — even inside a church.

Presumably that’s why a magistrate judge rejected the original request for an arrest warrant, forcing the DOJ to get a federal grand jury to rubber-stamp the indictment instead.

It’s up to all of us to stand up and speak out. Attorney General Pam Bondi needs to hear the American people demanding the Justice Department drop all charges against Georgia Fort and Don Lemon. Click ‘START WRITING’ to sign and send your direct message now.

Correction: A previous version of this page incorrectly stated that David Easterwood was preaching the sermon at Cities Church during the January 18 protest. Protesters confronted a different pastor.
