Peaceful climate activist Zain Haq, married to Canadian Sophia Papp for 3 years, was deported January 2025 from Canada for nonviolent climate activism despite Ministerial intervention to stop his removal.
Now, his wife Sophia is put in the untenable situation of living in Karachi, Pakistan, to be with her husband or staying in Canada without him.
Splitting up a family ties to Canada for nonviolent, low level criminality (arising from climate activism!) is unethical, and the former Minister of Immigration, Hon. Mark Miller, used Ministerial intervention to prevent his deportation TO NO AVAIL. The fact that the CBSA over-rode Ministerial intervention means that Ministerial discretionary law means nothing.
The Minister of Immigration, Hon. Lena Metledge Diab, can right this wrong by granting Zain Haq temporary resident permit (TRP) without delay.
Please send a letter to Immigration Minister Hon. Lena Metledge Diab and urge her to bring Zain home to Canada where he and his wife can continue their lives together!
