We stand with NEU Members at Great Ormond Street and UCL Hospital School and call on Camden Council to intervene.

NEU members have been overwhelmed by the incredible support from so many, and want to thank everyone who has sent them messages of support and the 1863 concerned community members who signed their petition to the Governing Body.

We need your support again and are asking that you join us by writing to Camden Council to ask them to intervene intervene.  

On Friday 3 July, Kate Williams – dismissed NEU rep at the centre of the long running dispute at The Hospital School at GOSH and UCLH – was awarded Interim Relief by the judge presiding over her hearing.

The decision made by Judge Davidson, at the Interim Relief Hearing, has meant that the Board of Governors at The Hospital School at GOSH and UCLH have been instructed to reinstate Kate paying her full salary until her full Employment Tribunal is heard.

Kate was dismissed by her employer in March 2026 following a disciplinary hearing overseen by Camden HR. Her dismissal followed her suspension from the workplace, 8-months earlier, in July 2025, after she raised concerns about chaotic and bullying management. Prior to her suspension, Kate had taught at the specialist setting for nearly 15 years with an unblemished record.

Three senior staff were suspended after also attempting to raise concerns and for their trade union activity. The Deputy and two Assistant Heads – who have a combined 30 years of service at the setting. Disciplinary processes against these members continue.

The school has lost approximately a combined 100 years of specialist hospital school experience through resignations, dismissals, and suspensions since a new headteacher took post in September 2024.

NEU members submitted a collective grievance on 23 October 2025 and those involved began to receive communications about the findings during their summer holiday. A full report was received by governors on 7 July when the independent investigator concluded their findings. However over two months later members have still not received the full report.

We stand with GOSH/UCLH NEU members in their fight against these unacceptable conditions. This is NOT how a hospital school should be run.

We call on Camden Council to intervene in the breakdown in leadership and governance, and to:

• Dissolve the governing body and put in place an interim board
• Release the completed full grievance reports
• Reinstate Kate Williams and the suspended senior leaders permanently
• End the abuse of disciplinary processes, bullying, victimisation and favouritism
• Repair relationships by working with ACAS, the NEU and all staff to rebuild trust
