Call on Sound Transit for Accountability

As you’ve likely already heard, Sound Transit recently released an updated date for Ballard. Here’s the bad news:

  • If nothing changes, Ballard won’t get light rail until the 2060s 😬

  • Even in Sound Transit’s best-case scenario, which will require a lot of changes and advocacy, light rail at Market St. won’t open until 2042 😒

We know that both these dates are way too late. The good news is, that by releasing new dates (even awful, discouraging ones), Sound Transit is making good on the first part of an amendment passed in the May board meeting. We are hopeful that this is the beginning of increased transparency from the agency that will allow us to continue to advocate and move our date closer. Read our full statement on the updated dates here.

Join us in our call for more accountability, transparency, and stopgaps that Sound Transit can provide to the community in the meantime.
