Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Marc Garneau recently made a trip to the Middle East. On this trip, the Minister met with newly elected Prime Minister of Israel.

In that meeting with Israel’s new far right, racist Prime Minister Naftali Bennet, the Minister discussed Canada’s “unwavering friendship” with Israel. He also met with Yair Lapid, who also opposes Palestine self-determination. In a 7 paragraph summary of the conversations from the Canada.ca/foreignaffairs only one sentence was dedicated to lightly criticizing Israel’s settlement and eviction activities.  

We must put pressure on the Foreign Affairs Minister to take action against illegal settlements.
