Care, Not Coercion: Sudbury Says No to Forced Treatment
People who are unhoused, use substances, or experience mental health challenges deserve care, dignity, and choice, not coercion.
Forced treatment is not a proven long-term solution and risks causing further harm.
Greater Sudbury should invest in what our community actually needs: supportive housing, voluntary treatment, harm reduction, mental health care, and community-based supports.
This action letter was developed with input and support from Black Lives Matter Sudbury, Coalition for a Livable Sudbury, STOPS (Sudbury Temporary Overdose Prevention Society), The Go Give Project, Karla Ghartey, Fierté Sudbury Pride, SWANS (Sex Workers Advisory Network of Sudbury), and Réseau ACCESS Network. Participation in this campaign represents the individual sender’s support for the concerns and demands outlined in the letter.
