Closure of Abbotsholme School
Abbotsholme School was shut with one hour's notice. Over 50 staff haven't been paid since April — many couldn't even afford the petrol to get to work. The director admitted he was briefed to close it.
The freehold — 140 acres with an equestrian centre, theatre, and pool — was quietly split off before the takeover. A domain for "Abbotsholme Hotel" was registered days before closure, raising serious questions about what the site may be intended for.
Abbotsholme served many SEND pupils, including families already uprooted by another school closure. Children left without goodbyes. Staff say it felt like a family being blown apart.
Write to John Bointon - District Councillor (Doveridge and Sudbury) and ask him to:
- Investigate the sale of Abbotsholme School
- Oppose any planning permission for non-educational use of the site
