Columbia, agree to a fair contract now and end the strike!

Tell the Columbia administration to accept terms most recently offered by SWC-UAW in order to reach a quick resolution to the student worker strike while making needed improvements to teaching and research conditions. We ask that Columbia act swiftly to resolve all of its outstanding Unfair Labor Practice charges, and reverse their illegal threats to replace striking workers or change their jobs.

The only outstanding issue between SWC and Columbia is the recognition of the unit. SWC is seeking a recognition article that accords with the NLRB certification of the unit. Columbia has instead insisted on excluding a portion of casual workers, recognized by the NLRB, from the unit. Columbia has explicitly said at the bargaining table that they consider casual workers a burden to the university who do not deserve basic workplace protections like the right to be paid correctly and on time.

SWC-UAW cannot be denied its legal right to the scope of the unit as recognized by the NLRB. We urge Columbia to accept these terms as quickly as possible to avert continuation of the strike.
