Comment 4: DEC & DPS : Deny the Permit and Plan for the Williams Transco NESE pipeline: it is too expensive for NYers
Send Comment #4 to the NYS DEC and to the NYS DPS to reject Williams Transco's Permit and National Grid's Long Term Gas Plan

Background:
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is currently reviewing an application from Williams/Transco to build a 23.33-mile fracked gas pipeline under the seabed off New York City. Before construction can proceed, Williams must secure several key permits, including a Water Quality Certificate. The DEC is accepting public comments on this proposal until 5:00 p.m. on August 16, 2025, and your voice can make a real difference.
Because the NESE pipeline is also included in National Grid’s Long-Term Gas Plan, you can submit this comment once and have it delivered to both the DEC and the Department of Public Service (DPS). The DPS is reviewing how New York should plan its gas system moving forward: whether to double down on polluting infrastructure or transition off gas in line with the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA). That’s the heart of the Long-Term Gas Planning proceeding, and why your input matters now more than ever.
