Congress Must Act to Protect Kurdish Civilians in Rojava (Northeast Syria)
Kurdish civilians in Rojava (Northeast Syria) are facing ongoing attacks, displacement, and humanitarian suffering. Women, children, and elderly people are among the most vulnerable, living under constant threat of violence, loss of basic services, and forced displacement.
Kurdish-led forces were key allies of the United States in the fight against ISIS, sacrificing thousands of lives to protect regional and global security. Despite this, their communities are now being left exposed to attacks that target civilian populations and essential infrastructure such as water, electricity, and healthcare.
Failing to protect these civilians undermines human rights, international law, regional stability, and U.S. credibility with its allies. Silence and inaction increase the risk of further atrocities and long-term instability.
Congress has the power and responsibility to act. By applying diplomatic pressure, supporting humanitarian protections, and demanding accountability, the United States can help prevent further violence and protect innocent lives.
