As a proud Belarusian-American, I urge you to support H. Res. 73, a resolution standing up for human rights in Belarus. The Belarusian-American diaspora is deeply concerned about what is happening in our homeland. We were appalled by the fraudulent January
26th elections and the Lukashenka regime’s continuous autocratic rule.
We are especially alarmed by the regime’s ongoing willingness to detain and torture its political adversaries and what remains of civil society in Belarus. Many of these political prisoners are our friends and colleagues, and we hope that securing their freedom
will continue to be a priority for Congress.
To that end, we ask that you stand with your Belarusian-American constituents, the entire Belarusian diaspora, and anyone who supports freedom from autocracy, and join your colleagues in supporting this vital, bipartisan legislation. Our community depends on allies like you to help us fight for our freedom.
