CSU: Negotiate Fair 2020 Raises for Skilled Trades Workers NOW!

Teamster workers make California higher education work. We repair dorms and classrooms, service campus labs, and maintain critical infrastructure statewide. We keep the CSU running.

However, we are the only state workers who continue to be denied step raises after the state halted them more than 20 years ago. We are under-staffed, underpaid, and barely able to afford housing near our workplaces. We have asked repeatedly for compensation for our work during the pandemic and CSU is unlawfully refusing to negotiate with us over a raise for 2020. This is in spite of the fact that:

• CSU has received $2.874 billion in federal stimulus since the start of the pandemic.
• The 2021 California state budget increased CSU's general fund by $550 million.
• CSU has nearly $3 billion in reserve funds.

Workers can't afford more delays. Thanks to Acting Chancellor Relyea and the CSU's inaction, CSU has failed to pass a new proposal on our wage reopener in months. While they stall for month after month, Teamsters workers struggle to afford gas, housing, and other basic essentials.

Please support us by sending our pre-written letter or your own version to the CSU Campus Presidents and members of the Board of Trustees, demanding that CSU leadership respect our sacrifices during the pandemic and negotiate fair raises for 2020/2021 AND 2021/2022 NOW!
