No more data centers without new regulations and robust enforcement!
Communities all over the country continue to grapple with the rapid expansion of data centers. They're being mandated by Gov. Abbott, evangelized by our state legislators, and our local governments are approving them without fully understanding the lasting and detrimental impact they will have on local resources like water, electricity, climate, and jobs.
Here in Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott wants have more data centers than anywhere else in the world. He says, "We must ensure that America remains at the forefront of the AI revolution, and Texas is the place where that can happen."
We're asking you to write letters to your elected officials at state and federal level. Demand that they stop approving new data centers until sensible regulations are put into place. This letter-writing tool makes it pretty easy!

I urgently request your immediate intervention on this matter which directly threatens the quality of life, infrastructure, environment, and future of my family and my community.
The rapid expansion of data centers, especially of hyperscale operations, is likely to inflict serious lasting damage, from environmental and public health issues to the affordability of basic utilities. Massive energy demands will seriously impact our climate and raise electrical costs for everyone. Water we can’t spare will be consumed to support AI and surveillance the people don’t want or need. Backup generators will burn fuel and pollute our air. Major industrial installations will create constant noise pollution, heat islands, and habitat loss.
Far too much is being taken, with far too little understanding, unproven benefit, and almost no regulation.
I am asking you to advocate for the following actions:
* No more data center approvals without local input, environmental studies and testing, evidence-based regulations, and robust enforcement mechanisms.
* No more tax incentives at the state, county, or local levels.
* Support for all cities, counties, and states implementing moratoriums until the above requirements are met.
Please listen to the voices of your constituents and take immediate action to safeguard our future from reckless data center expansion.
