The Davis Community is re-thinking public safety after episodes of police brutality and a lack of appropriate services for mental health problems, drug addiction, and homelessness. These issues have exacerbated racial disparities, which are particularly bad in Davis. A subcommittee on public safety has recently announced its recommendations to the Davis City Council, which were supported by 162 members of the public over the course of four hours at the last City Council meeting. We must urge Davis City Council to take these recommendations seriously and act on them!
