Dear elected officials,

The ongoing genocide in Gaza has reached a critical tipping point. For the last two years, Palestinians have been forced to endure the massacre of more than 62,000 individuals and the wounding of nearly 150,000 more through a sinister, unrelenting, and indiscriminate bombardment on an open-air prison. Today, Israel’s brutality has reached new heights, as they deliberately and systemically manufacture a famine in Gaza.

The Gaza Health Ministry estimates that as of this week, 263 deaths of starvation have been recorded thus far– including a heartbreaking 112 children. The scope of the humanitarian crisis continuing to unfold is further backed by the WHO’s Global Acute Malnutrition (GAM) measure, denoting a percentage of children ages 6-59 months known to be acutely malnourished, which has increased threefold since June, representing the most impacted population globally. In addition to children, this famine is taking a disproportionate toll on those pregnant or breastfeeding, with the recent Nutrition Cluster screening showing that a staggering 40 percent are severely malnourished.

Make no mistake, this horrifying development is intentional, as the Israeli government willfully obstructs access to life-saving aid, including food, water, baby formula, and medical supplies. Despite Israel’s repeated attempts to squander any wrongdoing, first-hand accounts from leading humanitarian organizations, including the United Nations, confirm that the IDF is continuously denying entry to aid trucks into Gaza, allowing supplies to rot at border crossings for months on end, and outright confiscating relief resources.

Additionally, the recently established Gaza Humanitarian Foundation is violently failing to meet this moment. Born out of the lie that Hamas was stealing aid, which the Israeli government has now debunked, GHF is using US taxpayer dollars to brutally disperse minuscule amounts of aid throughout Gaza in an unjust first-come, first-serve model. At GHF aid distribution sites, a deeply disturbing more than 1,800 Gazans have been murdered by American and Israeli mercenaries while desperately trying to access the insufficient aid available.

We write to you in extreme moral outrage and disappointment in our country’s continued aiding and abetting of this 21st-century genocide to demand you immediately exercise your congressional authority to:

1. Join the 20+ Democratic Senators and 90+ House Democrats in demanding immediate answers regarding the failures and terrorizing behavior of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, as well as an immediate end to all US taxpayer funding from being funnelled into the cruel and out-of-control organization.

2. Demand that Israel reopen the humanitarian corridor now and allow critical relief organizations, including UNRWA, into the Gaza Strip to deliver life-saving aid and put an end to this man-made famine.

3. Push at every turn for a weapons embargo to prevent the Israeli government from furthering this genocidal campaign against Palestinians with the support of American-made bombs and munitions.

4. Allow members of the press to freely enter Gaza without an IDF escort to comprehensively cover the scope of enforced starvation plaguing Gazans.

It is your duty as an elected representative to heed the concerns of your constituents, follow international law, and use every tool available to put an immediate end to this massive humanitarian and moral failure. We urge you to act accordingly and expeditiously as the world stands in unwavering solidarity with the people of Palestine.
