Demand Congress shut down Trump's deal with the IRS now
The $1.8 billion slush fund to pay off Trump’s cronies and insurrectionist loyalists wasn’t the only part of Trump’s corrupt deal with his own Department of Justice.
The settlement also blocks the IRS from auditing or pursuing charges tied to Trump’s tax returns, including his family and his businesses. It’s a scheme designed to keep the entire Trump empire from being investigated or held accountable for tax fraud — forever.
The immediate impact closes the books on an IRS audit that determined Trump and his sons could owe upwards of $100 million in taxes and penalties for an illegal “double dipping” accounting trick involving the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago.
That’s right, this IRS settlement is a $100 million gift to Donald Trump.
With this deal, any potential taxes and penalties are wiped away. Trump would owe zero. And that’s only one case. Trump, his family, and his businesses have filed hundreds of tax reports over the last decade alone. Now, none of that can be audited for fraud or investigated for any potential criminal wrongdoing.
Blanche has tried to cast the deal as typical. Nothing out of the ordinary.
That’s just nonsense!
Congress can stop this. Public pressure created a bipartisan uproar that killed the $1.8 billion insurrection slush fund — at least for now — but it didn’t kill the IRS deal. We need to turn up the heat and create the same kind of pressure on Congress to shut it down.
