Demand Congress Stop the FDA’s Dangerous Food Safety Rollback
The food on our tables should meet strong, enforceable safety standards. Congress must stop the Trump administration from giving manufacturers another way around those protections.
Now, the FDA is proposing to expand its “threshold of regulation” exemption to cover substances intentionally added to food.

Qualifying ingredients could avoid the ordinary food additive approval process. That would extend a regulatory shortcut into the food itself.
The health concerns extend to hormone disruption, reproductive harm, and children’s neurological development. Advocates warn that repeated exposure to chemicals across multiple products deserves greater scrutiny. Our families should never be left carrying risks that regulators failed to adequately examine.
Trump and RFK Jr. have made “Make America Healthy Again” their rallying cry. Congress must hold them accountable for the protections their administration actually delivers. Lawmakers should block this expansion, demand public answers from FDA leadership, and require rigorous safety assessments that protect children and adults.
