Demand for Reinstatement and Workplace Reform at AT&T

An AT&T employee with 17 years of loyal service was unjustly terminated under the guise of violating “AT&T's Code of Business Conduct” after enduring nearly a year of relentless harassment. This employee had an impeccable record until he exposed fraud at his Aurora store. Instead of addressing the wrongdoing, AT&T empowered store manager Adriana to retaliate, aggressively pushing him out of his position.

Following the fraud exposure, the company subjected him to a barrage of unfair write-ups for so-called "behaviors" that were nothing short of dystopian and unattainable. He was disciplined for being unable to communicate with customers who spoke a language he didn’t understand. He was written up for not pushing products aggressively enough, even when customers repeatedly said “NO,” putting him in hostile and potentially dangerous situations. Long time customers who had visited for years simply to pay their bills were suddenly seen as sales targets, and he was penalized for not forcing unnecessary upsells. Shockingly, he was even disciplined over an interaction with a customer he wasn't involved with, an issue that management had handled for days!

Perhaps most disturbing, AT&T instructed this employee to ask customers deeply inappropriate personal questions, including: “Where do you meet your ladies? How do you meet these ladies? Do you use Hinge or Tinder?”, all in the name of selling products. Employees are being pressured to invade customers’ personal lives just to meet unrealistic sales quotas.

This is the reality AT&T workers face every day; psychological abuse and relentless pressure, treated as disposable rather than as human beings. This employee was harassed, broken, and ultimately terminated simply for doing the right thing and exposing fraud. It is outrageous, and it must stop.

As we approach contract negotiations, we will stand up against these impossible standards and the bully tactics AT&T uses to drive out tenured employees. These should be good union jobs, and we demand that AT&T work with the Union to establish fair, achievable, and humane expectations, not the abusive practices currently in place.

We urge you to take action. Send an email to AT&T demanding:

  • The immediate reinstatement of this wrongfully terminated worker.

  • The resignation of bully manager Adriana.

  • A commitment to realistic and ethical workplace standards. No more invasive sales tactics, no more forcing employees to pressure customers, and no more retaliation against those who expose fraud.

Stand with us in holding AT&T accountable!
