Demand Justice for the 14 People Arrested for Stopping 2 Deportations
Demand justice for the 14 people arrested at Bergen County Jail for stopping 2 deportations on June 8, 2021. Without them, and without the unwavering support of the community, two more people would have been forced out of the country and away from their families. This is the power of community.
The community must now come together to support our 14 comrades who bravely put their bodies on the line and now face multiple charges. Make some calls and emails today to demand that they #DropTheCharges ! Donate to their legal fund via Venmo @NJjusticefund.
Background
Marvin Jerezano Peña, a resident of Red Bank, is at imminent risk for deportation after being targeted and entrapped by ICE, in collusion with the Red Bank, New Jersey court system. Go to bit.ly/marvinjpena to read more about Marvin and for ways to help.
He was set to be deported on June 8, 2021, shortly after his 27th birthday. The community held an overnight vigil for him, during which they sang happy birthday to him, and listened to his mother's words. While at the vigil, it was discovered that Marvin was granted a 14 day stay.
Then on early Tuesday morning, 14 people blocked the entrance to the jail, resulting in their arrests. One person was held overnight and released the following day. The 14 people arrested now face multiple charges.
Send an email to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella demanding that he drop all charges.
