DEMAND: No cuts to HHS, CDC, NIH, FDA and more!

Coming off the catastrophic reconciliation budget bill, passed by the House and Senate and signed by the President, Congress is now working on Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) funding decisions through the appropriations process. The action starts in the House which may consider funding for the Department of Health and Human Services and all of its agencies (CDC, FDA, NIH, etc.) the week of July 21.

Funding for HHS is included in the Labor, HHS, and Education Appropriations Bill (LHHS) – one of 12 regular appropriations bills considered each year. LHHS is usually the last to move, and the administration’s version would worsen the tsunami of destruction that Trump and RFK Jr. have brought to federal health agencies. While this process will likely continue all summer and into the fall, it is essential that we all contact our elected officials ASAP to voice our opposition to the draconian budget cuts contained in the President’s FY26 budget. Highlights of the President’s devastating cuts include:

  • 54% cut to CDC

  • 40% cut to NIH

  • The movement of multiple programs to a yet-to-be-established Administration for a Healthy America (AHA), disrupting carefully built structures designed to address specific needs.

We will dive deeper into specifics over the coming months, but our message right now is clear. Just say NO to budget cuts for HHS, CDC, NIH, FDA and more. Do not create AHA – which is guaranteed to be a slush fund for RFK Jr. to continue to pursue his nefarious agenda of pseudoscience and misinformation.

Please send letters to your Members of Congress, Governor and State Representatives now!
