There are moments when our criminal justice system has an opportunity to reinforce rehabilitation, encourage accountability, and recognize genuine transformation. Unfortunately, that opportunity was denied to Mr. Marwan Snodgrass Sr.

After serving 19 years in prison, Mr. Snodgrass came home with a purpose. He became a facilitator at The FUDGE Foundation, mentoring high-risk individuals, serving meals, and proving that people can change. He had no violations, zero negative interactions with law enforcement, and even earned his CDL just one day before his parole hearing.

However, during a routine visit, his APA officer found a BB gun (not a firearm) in the residence, which Mr. Snodgrass maintains he was unaware of. Despite his spotless record and clear dedication to his community, the APA sanctioned him with nine months in prison.

When the system fails to recognize genuine rehabilitation and imposes severe sanctions without considering an individual's exemplary progress, it discourages the exact behavior it claims to promote.

Send a letter to Governor DeWine and the Adult Parole Authority today to demand a review of Mr. Snodgrass's case and urge them to prioritize rehabilitation over unnecessary incarceration.
