I am a constituent urging you to fight for the People’s Pandemic Prevention Plan, endorsed by 141 Members of Congress, 90,000 other voters and 450+ organizations, including NAACP, SEIU, Greenpeace, United We Dream, Families USA, Religious Action Center, and hundreds more.

Deadly pandemics are the products of policies, perpetuated by globalization and systemic racism. New diseases are rapidly accelerating due to climate change and deforestation: there were six times more animal-to-human outbreaks in 2010 than 1980. With millions of deaths worldwide, we must act to stop this deadly cycle.

Please fight to ensure that future COVID relief or other legislation includes:

(1) A permanent U.S. Public Health Corps of hundreds of thousands of union jobs fighting outbreaks and organizing to eliminate larger health disparities;

(2) Getting vaccines to everyone, everywhere—including impoverished countries—by waiving monopoly patent barriers for medicines and vaccines, and funding poor countries to scale-up manufacturing worldwide to build capacity long after COVID-19;

(3) At least two billion in seed funding for a new Global Pandemic Preparedness and Prevention Fund that finances poor countries to (A) strengthen health systems and meet WHO’s International Health Regulations within five years, stopping outbreaks before they spread; and (B) prevent pandemics at the source, before spillover from animals to humans, with healthcare and job training for indigenous communities, and protections for tropical forests and protections for wildlife;

(4) Prohibitions on corporations selling products in the U.S. market if a the company's product supply chains include deforestation or wildlife trade.

Please pass the legislation we need to end COVID-19 and prevent future pandemics. Thank you for fighting for me, and for people all over the world who need you. I look forward to hearing your response.
