Demand Congress Enact the Pandemic Prevention Plan!

Please add your name and click submit, and we’ll send the letter (below) to your Senators and Representative, asking them to co-sponsor Senator Elizabeth Warren and Representatives Ro Khanna and Barbara Lee’s People’s Pandemic Prevention Plan.

This moment demands action that meets the scale of the challenge, and the Pandemic Prevention Plan is commensurate with the urgency of now. By enacting the plan called for by Warren and Khanna, Congress can stop COVID, build back better, and prevent the pandemics of the future.

The letter text is below. We're at nearly 100 MOC co-sponsors already as of 1/11. Together, we can win!

To: [Your Senators and House Rep will be automatically added]

I am a constituent writing to urge you to endorse the “Pandemic Prevention Plan” sign-on letter co-sponsored by nearly 100 Members of Congress, led by Senator Elizabeth Warren and Representatives Ro Khanna, Barbara Lee and Max Rose. This plan has been endorsed by 65,000 people from all 50 states and U.S. Territories, along with more than 250+ organizations, including NAACP, SEIU, Greenpeace, United We Dream, Families USA, and hundreds more. (See end of my letter for a list of signatories.)

*The letter CLOSES Wednesday, 10/14/20* - Can you sign before Wednesday?

Please contact Rep. Ro Khanna or Senator Elizabeth Warren's office if you can sign it.

The letter calls for the comprehensive action we need to stop COVID-19, ensure an equitable recovery, and prevent the pandemics of the future. The Pandemic Prevention Plan takes overdue steps to address the policies perpetuating systemic racism and colonialism—these same policies underpin the accelerating waves of deadly pandemics that we’ve faced for far too long, like Cholera, HIV/AIDS, SARS, MERS, H1N1, Ebola, Zika, and now COVID-19.

There were six times more animal-to-human outbreaks in 2010 than 1980. With more than one million deaths worldwide and over 200,000 dead from COVID-19 in the United States, we need a plan to stop this deadly cycle.

The Pandemic Prevention Plan calls for: (1) immediate relief for the country, right here, right now; (2) a permanent public health corp of hundreds of thousands of jobs to fight outbreaks and eliminate larger health disparities; (3) requirements that taxpayer-funded medicines and vaccines are affordable and available for everyone, everywhere; (4) joining the 172-nation global collaboration working to efficiently get effective vaccines to the most people, the fastest; (5) support for impoverished countries to establish health systems strong enough to stop pandemics before they spread; and (6) stopping deforestation, the primary driver of new animal-to-human outbreaks, with funds for indigenous communities in outbreak hotspots to protect against environmental destruction, as well as using U.S. purchasing power to stop corporations from including deforestation in their supply chains.

Please co-sponsor the Warren-Khanna Pandemic Prevention Plan letter. Thank you for fighting for me, and for people all over the world who need you. I look forward to hearing your response.
