District 21 IA Superintendent Removal

Dear Chancellor Samuels, District 21 CEC Members and Parent Leaders,

“NYCPS is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment that is free from harassment, intimidation and/or bullying, sexual harassment, and discrimination on account of actual or perceived race, color, age, creed, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship/immigration status, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, or weight.”

How can students and families rely on the NYCPS to live up to the above statement when Interim-Acting Superintendent Erin Lynch-Reyes is still holding the position as the highest ranking DOE employee in District 21? The actions of Lynch-Reyes and her husband do not reflect the values of our community nor do they model the core values of the NYCPS.

We are asking you to refrain from appointing Erin Lynch-Reyes as District 21 Superintendent and find alternative candidates who are willing to model what “Respect for All” looks like.

Appointing Erin Lynch-Reyes as District 21 Superintendent would send a message to students, families and educators that if you are in a position of power you’re above the rules.
