Divest MA from Genocide

Join Jewish Voice for Peace Boston and allies to urge the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to divest from war and genocide! Contact your state legislators to support these two important bills:

1. (H.2984) An Act Relative to Pension Divestment from Companies Providing Military Equipment to the State of Israel

This bill, introduced to the House by Representative Erika Uyterhoeven, would require the Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management Board of the MA state pension fund to divest from companies involved in weapons sales to Israel, such as RTX, formerly Raytheon.

2. (S.767/H.1264) An Act Promoting Responsible Investment

This bill, which has both Senate and House versions, would require the state Public Fund and Board of the Pension Fund to divest from entities that manufacture, produce, sell, and/or promote weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) — including nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons, as well as high explosives such as bombs, missiles and grenades.

Why is divestment important? As of 2024, Massachusetts has approximately $2.1 billion invested in entities with ties to WMDs, including nuclear weapons producers RTX Corporations (Raytheon), Northrop Grumman Corp, Lockheed Martin Corp, Boeing, and more. These manufacturers sell their weapons to the government of Israel, which uses these weapons to enact genocide and other war crimes on Palestinians.

Both bills would move Massachusetts closer ending its complicity in the Israeli government’s policies of apartheid and genocide against the Palestinian people. Instead of funding destruction and killing, our state funds should be invested in feeding, housing, educating, and healing our communities.
