Hello SEIU Local 1 members and allies,

Please help us support two union workers who have been retaliated against by SEIU Local 1 leadership.

Earlier this year, SEIU Local 1 workers filed a grievance against a manager with a long history of worker abuse. While SEIU Local 1 President Genie Kastrup considered how to respond, the abusive manager fired an affected worker — Gabrielle Kelley, a talented Black woman organizer — for pushing back against his sexual harrassment and asserting her rights as a union worker.

In response, SEIU Local 1 worker Rose Schafer — a talented Mexican woman organizer — fought back in support of her union sister Gabrielle. While President Kastrup considered how to respond, Rose’s abusive manager suspended her without pay for 3 days, and when that wasn’t enough to shut her up, they put Rose on forced unpaid leave with no return date.

Please join us in demanding that President Kastrup immediately bring Gabrielle Kelley and Rose Schafer back to work and make them whole for lost wages and benefits. This is not controversial or hard to understand — it’s just the good old-fashioned right thing to do.
